If Evolvio were a parenting app, envision it as your mobile 'Parenting Skills Enhancer.' Tailor your parenting approach, prioritize safety and budgets, customize your strategies, and you're all set to nurture a secure and loving environment for your child, which would further the mission of Harmony Homes if it were a non-profit.
Defining the Problem:
During this project, I teamed up with a group of 3 other people. We asked ourselves, “How might we provide parents with the resources they need to support their children in self-regulating their emotions?”
We hypothesized that the process would be straightforward and our original interview questions were geared towards the children and how we could assist in creating engaging content for them specifically. We soon had a plot twist, and switched to discussing with parents directly due to the time that would be needed to develop a deep enough connection with children. With that said, leading the design of the app was both exhilarating and demanding.
Parenting Resources:
Imagine navigating through the resources available, seeking a parenting solution, and grappling with providing the right support for your child to process their feelings. It’s akin to sifting through a feed that overwhelms, adding a layer of decision fatigue amidst the busy daily life of parents striving to ensure their child's emotional well-being. It’s further compounded by the scarcity of accessible mental health services for children.
Well, that's the current struggle for parents aiming to nurture their child's emotional growth and well-being. In designing Evolvio, we prioritized enabling swift access through either quick sign-up or immediate exploration. Evolvio offers a personalized glimpse into the parent and child’s learning journey, making the process not only effortless but also visually engaging. Moreover, incentivizing parents to actively participate and customize their learning path adds an extra layer of motivation and encouragement.
Quantitative Research Highlights:
The quantitative research I gathered further supported our user insights in that 100% say they are lacking in guiding their children towards well-being and 81% say education resources would be helpful.
